Mercer Boffey was born in the Lower East Side of NYC. His grandparents met at Cooper Union Art College and art is in his DNA. His education includes a High School degree from Fiorello H. LaGuardia Music, Art, and the Performing Arts, and a BFA from NYU Tisch, where he studied directing, acting and animation.
His first storyboard job came from a professor in the film program there who was shooting a commercial. Shortly after that he was brought on by Blue Man Group and Counts Media to visualize several ongoing large scale projects, including the RIDE which is operating in NYC. Before moving to LA in 2009, Mercer worked closely with Creative Impulse Entertainment boarding several music videos and animations, as well as directing multiple online media.
After moving to LA, Mercer courted several agencies, all the while continuing to freelance independently, storyboarding commercials, film pitches, comic books, character designs, and short animations. He eventually found a happy home at Famous Frames, where he continues to flourish, using his theatrical understanding to bring drawings to life and his traditional animation background to deliver artwork with notable celerity. His skills include storyboards, shooting boards, comic art, character designs, products, food, photo comping, visual resourcing, animation, and a "bring it on" attitude... Yes, just like the dance movie...
